Zoom: Live Automatic Transcription Service

To enable Zoom’s Live Automatic Transcription service:

  1. Login to the UPenn Zoom website
  2. Go to Settings
  3. Go to Meeting
  4. Go to In Meeting (Advanced)
  5. Turn on Closed captioning, if it is not already toggled on
  6. Mark the checkbox labeled “Enable live transcription service to show transcript on the side panel in-meeting”
  7. Hit Save

Turn on live transcription by going to your Zoom settings

Host:

You must be the host to turn on the live transcription service.

  1. In the Zoom control bar, hit the Live Transcription button

  2. Hit Enable Auto-Transcription

  3. Participants will then be alerted that live transcription is available

Participant:

  1. In the Zoom control bar, hit the Live Transcription button. This will launch three options

  2. To display subtitles on the screen, hit Show Subtitles
  3. To display the transcript in the transcription pane, hit View Full Transcript
    1. Both the speaker’s name and a timestamp will appear in the transcript pane
  4. To adjust the font size of the subtitles and chat window, hit Subtitle Settings
  5. To save a copy of the transcript, hit Save Transcript in the transcription pane
